Well had commissions opened and I had this idea for some time. So my idea and her drawing. I have some spare money now and probably will be spending some on donations or ordering commissions from time to time.
As for idea for this one. After seeing iPad presentation (can see it here [link] or here [link]) I was left with bad feelings... It is so full of amazing, magical, incredible, gorgeous, greatest, incredible words and so on and so on... Seriously makes me want to puke... Such a bragging crap...
Well at that point I remembered old cartoon I watched as a child or rather one episode from it where boa Kaa was hypothesizing Maugli [link]
Well probably now you understand from where idea came, merging Jobs and Kaa + iPad + some words they brag with "ssss" endings
P.S If someone knows of other works like this joking on Apple questionable practices or would like to draw some send me a note. Would like to feature some
Hmm, seems anyone who has anything related to him gets free surge of popularity today And its not my drawing, its my idea and I commissioned another artist, read my "author" comment.
Your description sounded interesting, so I took a look at some of their videos. And I noticed that. I wouldn't really call that intimidating, yet it was clearly sensible that they tried to pursue the audience that this new product just being presented is something everyone MUST get to have a good life in modern day world and it's not possible to live any other way without their so wonderful products.
But I must say their advertising strategy sure is clever for the masses. Just put in the video few happy looking babies, add some beautiful photos and tell that "our product will change your life" and average person will buy it. And of course without first comparing technical specifications with similar products made by other manufacturers (with pretty high chances that other products might have way better quality).
And their homepage... Well, if I can't find a monitor's viewing angle before getting bored from all these "you will love it" texts, chances for the company that I'll buy their product are quite small. And not to mention any more specific technical info which I couldn't find there at all (a couple of months ago my monitor decided to break so before buying a new one I spent quite a lot time in manufacturers Internet pages comparing different products). Besides when I work as a graphic designer it's pretty useful that colors on the screen differ from how they will look when printed in a printing-house as less as possible (especially if I do not earn enough to afford a Pantone catalogue), but empty and shallow phrases can't convince me about that.
As for cult style, if there are some people out there who are too stupid to have their own taste and understand what they need, what clothes they like, what art they like, what books they want to read, what music they want to listen, what functions are necessary for their mobile phones, there will be also people clever enough out there to know how to convince these people that exactly their product is what they want and that they must work to earn enough money and buy it. But luckily everyone aren't like this and do not follow such trends.
Well that all reminds me an attitude to children somehow too... Like it is too complex to know details so we will hide them... They also misinform and hide details on their screwups be it software or hardware bugs... Basically I just can't respect that and in fact dislike those features of Apple. All that arrogance, elitism, disinformation and all.
As for not so many. Apple actually become a most expansive firm in world passing Google and Microsoft. I am mostly scared/angered by influence they make mostly on content/software front. They make smart-phones and now tablets that are locked down, tied to iTunes and in many ways limited artificially for their own gain. They also use that momentum to enforce various other bad things but they are more specific and technical...
But in the end we always will have alternative and it is left for me to only hope that they will not get that what they want in some directions.
Ah, I just love that attitude towards children. I remember myself when I was little and I hated it so much whenever I realized that my mum isn't explaining me something I want to know (only later I understood that the reason was because she thought these things would be too hard for me to understand). Instead she invented some stupid reasons which "I will be able to understand", but then I just always came up with reasonable arguments why all that sounds stupid and thought that my mum don't understands anything if she talks such nonsense.
The real fun started when once I caught myself doing the same. My cousin is 6 years younger than I am and once when she didn't understand a metaphor and thought it's meant literally I thought it's useless trying to explain. Later I realized that the reason why I did not explained it to her was not because I thought she can't understand it but just because I thought finding words how to explain it is a hard thing to do for me. After that time I tried never to do that anymore and explain everything to her.
Is it really that bad with apple? I mean all software and hardware have bugs and glitches. Or apple simply have more of them than stuff made by other companies? Even my favorite programs have them, for example I really love CorelDraw, it's my favorite graphic design program, but it has so many glitches that sometimes doing some specific task is impossible with it and then I have to switch to Adobe Illustrator or InDesign. Though it's my fault partly as well, because using the newest version of Corel on my antique about 6 years old computer wasn't reasonable at all, now I do regret that I didn't install an older version.
And what did you mean with "they also use that momentum to enforce various other bad things"? Is it that they know these things are bad yet still enforce them? For what reason? Or I guess I should ask how they are planning to get profit with these bad things in future?
As for me, I use a Nokia mobile phone I bought 4 years ago shortly before they announced the first iPhone. And I won't buy a new one until this one breaks apart, I really like it and I have no need for any extra functions which in my opinion should be done with computer anyway (for example I have checked my e-mail with my phone sometimes, but browsing Internet or taking photos isn't something that should be done with a phone). Thought I do listen music with my phone and wouldn't mind having more than 2 GB of memory for music files.
But it's not like I could install new programs on my current mobile phone either. I have to stick with what Nokia company had put into it. Or is it different with apple? When I buy a computer I can choose to install any Windows version or Linux, but for phones there isn't such choice to pick your favorite operating system. Though I must say that being tied to iTunes really would suck. It's the only program I have tried from apple and found it not suitable for myself. I like Winamp way better for managing my music playlists (when you have few thousand music files, some playlist editor gets quite handy).
Anyway, good job.

And drawing itself is funny as well.
I have never used any apple products nor paid attention to their advertisements, so I can't judge how true this image is, but it sure is funny.
Well their product presentations are kind of intimidating... Sounds like some cult style hypnosis of "godly stuff"
